Missing Counters

I was reading all about that in Microsoft, but I have not cluster, w3k, etc. Configuration: W2k sp4, SQL 2k sp3a.
When I run Performance Monitor I find numbers instead sql counters. All others counter works fine, but for some reason I miss all sql counters. Any clue?
Edited, just to refresh today.

Have you tried to unload and load the counters using LODCTR utility. Satya SKJ

I have this problem when I change "Reserve physical memory" from Enterprise Managers (I’m using dynamically memory allocation), its ask me about restart the service, if I answer Yes the service is restarted but the sql counters disappear. When I restart (shutdown) the server, the counter appear again…
The same occurs if I use sp_configure ‘set working set size’, after I restart the service, the counters are missing; when I restart the server, it’s OK…

LODCTR, is for Analysis Service Counters. I miss regular SQL counters and I only have numbers. Windows counters are Ok.
Any clue? Luis Martin

Luis, do you know how to do this yet? I did it yesterday. simply run (at command prompt) unlodctr then run lodctr "C:program filesmicrosoft sql serverinnsqlctr.ini" and reboot Amend the path to you installed SQL Server programs binn folder if necessary. This worked fine for me. Tom Pullen

Yes, I forget. When sysperfinfo is empty and you have in SQL log the following error: Performance monitor shared memory setup failed: -1 Then the solution is: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812915&Product=sql2k
In my case I’ll wait for next sp. Luis Martin

Louis, Did you apply this hotfix ? Did this solve your problem ? How do I uninstall this, if it doesnt work ? bijo
In order to work the process you must apply the hotfix as per the KBA referred. TO backout refer to the list of files referred, take a backup before applying and replace if you want to backout the hotfix by stopping sQL Server services. Satya SKJ

I did not apply the hotfix, because Microsoft recommend (if you can wait) to SP4. Luis Martin

But if you need immediate results I suggest to test and apply, SP4 is still in beta stages. Satya SKJ

Ok, sorry to bring this up again, but I’m still experince this issue after i’ve upgraded to sp4. I’ve looked on KB and all references say that it should be fixed with SP4. Is anyone else still exeperice this after the upgrade? sean
How about the hotfix post SP4? Satya SKJ

I’m running .2159 which is a higher version then the inital SP4. We had to apply a hotfix due to a seperate issue invovling blocking while running dbcc indexdefrag. I was assume that since the original KB stated that the hotfix was for SP3(a) that the problem was resolved with SP4. This doesn’t seem to be the case. Any thoughts/suggestions? sean
Curiously i DO NOT receive the "Performance monitor shared memory setup failed: -1" error message. I just don’t get the SQL SERVER counters in the perfmon. I’ve tried the unlodctr and lodctr, but that didn’t seem help either. sean
