MS FTP seems to corrupt Sql Server dump files.

I am trying to copy MS Sql Server database dump files (backup output from a dump database command) off system to an AIX box where I can copy them to tape. Problem is FTP seems to scramble the dump file so it won’t restore. Using binary mode didn’t help. Are these files not portable, or is there a better tool? Thanks! PS: These are Sql Server 6.5, 7.0, and 2000 dumps.

Are you defining any terms of encryption while transferring thru FTP?
