Has anyone come across the following error message before? [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] MSDTC on server (servername) is unavailable If yes, how did you manage to resolve it?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822473 As usual hot fix is available [<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-4.gif’ alt=’:p‘ />]<br /><br />—————————————-<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://spaces.msn.com/members/dineshasanka>http://spaces.msn.com/members/dineshasanka</a><br />
This hotfix will not fix my problem because of the following: 1) The server I am using is a network server
2) The server is Window 2003 and not W2K Jason

We were getting that on some of our SQL Server installations until we made sure all the DTC settings were the same across all servers. See the server build document here. Look at the DTC piece. If that or one of the other posts doesn’t help, let us know. http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/derrickl/archive/2005/12/04/8484.aspx Also, make sure you have the latest version of MDAC installed and the DTC service is actually running on the server.
