NEED ADVICE FROM EVERYONE! THANKS!

Hi,
I am starting to launch a member site (specifically an online dating site). I have read in one or two forum topics about SQL Server. Is that going to be relevant in managing the member profiles on my site, when it attains a few hundred thousand members in its MySQL database on the backend of my online dating script? Grateful if more experts can discuss the relevance of the SQL server here, and advise me. Then, also, I have heard that for every 20,000 users concurrently online, you need to add one more server to your server capacity (or hardware capacity). Is that true, or would one server itself be able to serve 100,000 users currently online (rather than 5 for 100,0000 concurrent users online)? (Also, what server type and specifications is one talking about here, for having such capacity?) Appreciate receiving insights from more experienced programmers and consultants than myself.
