New User – How to begin

Ok, I’ve convinced my company to buy a SQL server. It’s now in place and my Enterprise Manager is now on my machine. All of our data is located on a Progress 9.1C server. I have been using MS Access 2000 to create databases with a front-end for my users. The reason I bought the SQL server is I thought it would help with my Access databases that users will have to use at the same time (multiple users). Isn’t there a way to utilize my new SQL server and somehow link the Progress tables to my SQL server instead of linking to MS Access? In other words, how am I going to incorporate the SQL server with Progress and with my Access front-end??[?]
I don’t think there is any better way other than migrating the data to sql server and access sql server from your font end.

That isn’t an option. Most of our company uses Syteline which utilizes tables directly from Progress. Is there going to be ANY benefit at all with this new SQL server? ANYONE??????
I don’t think so. MohammedU.

Most questions regarding Progress and SQL Server on the net seems to go unanswered. Probably you can add Progress as a linked server to SQL Server. And perhaps there is an ODBC or OLEDB driver available on the market. —

Well, you can at least somehow utilize SQL Server and therefore probably justify the cost.
