Not getting Maintenance plan in SQL Server 2000

I am not getting Database maintenance plan option in SQL Server Standard Edition Ver. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 – 8.00.194 (Intel X86) 194 aug 6 2000 Copyright (c) 1988-2000 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4) Due to this, i am not able to do any backup and shrink operations

Apply latest service pack on SQL Server and without using maintenance plans you can perform backup and shrink operations. Refer to the books online for BACKUP & DBCC SHRINKFILE statements and define a new job to take care of these operations. Satya SKJ
