why easier to maintain and what security reasons?

If all objects owner are DBO, only Administrator can manipulate those objects.
Some sp to help maitenance, only use objects belong to DBO and no to others.
I don’t remember right now those sp.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=275312 for information on changing object owner or normally you can use sp_changeobjectowner which is system supplied. Refer to this articlehttp://www.winnetmag.com/Article/ArticleID/41773/Windows_41773.html by Kalen Delaney about object ownership and security. Satya SKJ
