Plz Suggest Me

Hi, I have one database due to performance I’m distrubiting the .mdf & .ldf file on different drives. This kind of implementation will help for database performance to me. Plz suggest to me with complete detail

You may need to seperate the data and log file to different physical disks…if possible create additional filegroups on seperate physical drives and move the objects/indexes… Read the following articles which will also applies to sql server 2005… http://www.sql-server-performance.com/ac_filegroup_performance.asp

There is no guarantee that even though if you seperate them you will attain the performance, unless your queries are fine tuned for better optimization. I don’ think whatever the best practices in the industry you apply without such measures on your query & data normalization it is hard to get performance to a level. Satya SKJ

I agree with Satya, you have to tune the queries/procedures but I believe you may get definitely some benifit of i/o operations when you seperate tables and non-clustered indexes and adding additional filegroups to physical drives moving the objects on to them…. MohammedU.
