Problem with Dual Core Processor…

Hi,
I’m running a SQL Server 2000 in a server that has an AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 4200+ Processor. When configuring SQL Server at Processor Control tab, if I assign both processors then I get a performance downgrade. Even sometimes one of the "cores" gets CPU Utilization at 100% while the other one is at an average rate of utilization.
Hard disk has 50GB capacity with 41GB free. Do any of you have any idea of what might be happening? Thanx, JP
What OS do you have?
What SQL sp do you have?
