question regarding xp_sendmail

Hello,
Is there any problem if I use exec master.dbo.xp_stopmail before sending mail using master.dbo.xp_sendmail. I do this because we very often lose network connectivity with exchange server,
and as a result of this the mail sessions are being left opened. Thanks
