replication or mirroring ?

Hi all,
I have do design a failover scenario for our MSSQL db’s to a remote location.
(100 km away).
What is the best practice replication or mirroring?
What are your experiences with mirroring?
Any potholes ? Thx for your real live experiences.

Look at mirroring or log shipping. It depends on how fast your link is to the remote site, if it has enough capacity to take the mirroring or log shipping traffic. I would not use replication for failover, that is not really what it’s designed for and the administrative overhead is far greater than mirroring or log shipping (enough of a reason alone to make you not do it).
