Run SSIS Package on 2000 Database Server

I have a database running on Sql Server 2000 sp3. I also have a perfect opportunity to use SSIS to do a data bridge in this database. I know I can use BIDS to connect to the 2000 DB and design/run the job from my desktop. The question is can I run the SSIS package ON the Sql Server 2000 machine? Will it run if I install it as a structured file and install the SSIS components/service on the 2000 machine, or does it require that the Sql Server 2005 engine/service be present. I’ve been able to find articles about compatibility running 2000 DTS packages on Sql Server 2005 machines, but nothing the other way around. The last thing I want to do is screw up my 2000 server by installing SSIS and find out I still can’t run the SSIS package anyway. Thanks, dn daustinash
