Saving Execution Plan

Hi, Is there any way to copy the execution plan (generated by Query Analyzer) to clip board or to save it as a file ?
HI ya, not the lovely picture… You can use the showplan command to get a textual representation which can be saved like any other query result, but is more difficult to interpret Cheers

If you want graphical representation simply use Ctrl+PrintScreen and paste in Paint application and save as image file.

Alt+PrintScreen captures only the currently active window, not the whole screen. Might be sometimes better Frank

You can zoom the execution plan as fit into the screen and do the rest (copy/paste).
As suggested you can use text based but need concentration to understand. _________

Thanks for all your suggestions. But, my execution plan is so big, it doesn’t fit in one screen. How good it will be if we can save it as a file or something. I might have to send it to SQLWISH.
Then you may to use as suggested by Twan.
And also send request to MS for any tip. _________

I need to submit an analysis report to management where I want to include the execution plan. And a textual plan would be very hard for them to interpret. I’m planning to take multiple screen shots of each plan and then stich them together if possible or submit as it is in pieces. Thanks for all your suggestions.
If its something to present to higher up then may search on google for any such tools available. HTH _________
