Setting up a new server – 32 or 64 bit?

I am setting up a new server with SQL 2000 and Windows Server 2003 R2. It is an Intel dual quad-core processor system with 8 gig of RAM. Should I install the 64 bit version of the OS or stick with the 32 bit version that I use on my old servers. Will I see any difference in performance? Will I see any functional differences? Thank you!
I don’t see any specific reason to go for 64 bit in this case, having the sensible database optimization and physical resources on the server 32 bit performs very well. Also you may need tothink about having Enterprise edition of SQL to take advantage of more than 2gb memory in this case. Satya SKJ
