SQL 2000 Installation Hang on Virtual Server 2005

I have created three 2003 Virtual Servers on one physical server using Microsoft Virtual Server 2005. I try to run a local install of SQL 2000 STD Edition on the virtual servers but it always hangs when it tries to install MS Full Text Search engine. This happens on all of the three virtual servers. They all patched up to date and have had apps installed. [?]Has any else experienced this problem and if so did you find a solution[?] Cheers Melvin[8D]

Ensure you’re using an account with local and domain administrator rights. Check SQLSP.LOG and other log files for error message. Satya SKJ

I have checked the log and the last few entries are below, but they do not suggest any errors. Are there any Certificates installed on the server ? Do you have Certificate Services running on the server.

I have no certificates on the server, it is a fresh install of 2003 Server. I actually tried SQL 2000 DEV version and that installed with no problems. I’m going try again but remotely install it once I have created a domain or active directory. I’ll let you know what happens Cheers Melvin

just curious… for your virtual server, do you have any additional hardware
emulated besides the single default C: Drive? if so… are you installing sql on any kind of virtual raid?
– SQL.Admin – US.Florida
When you create the Virtual Server it emulates everything for the server to run exactly as a physical server, like network card, scsi adapter etc… I’m not installing SQL on a virtual raid I’m testing some DR software failover capabilities.
