SQL 2000 on Win2k3 server

Are there any documents or links that tell us what specific steps to take for installing SQL Server 2000 on a Windows 2003 server. I read something about 2k3 supporting only SQL 2000 SP2 and higher? Are there other small "features" I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help!
As far I now there is no problem. In fact yesterday I was in a customer for first time, server was SQL 2003 Spanish, SQL 2000 English without sp. I apply sp3a just to have last sp, but customer report no problems except performance.

Luis,<br /><br />I personally have not tried to run a lot on SQL Server 2000 on a Windows 2003 server. With the services lockdown in Windows 2003 server, I guess there may be something that vn should be aware of. I bet you can tell us something.[<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif’ alt=’:D‘ />]<br /><br />Also, if I understand correctly, the coming SP1 for Windows 2003 server will require opening port for SQL Server since Firewall is turned on automatically.[}<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ />]<br /><br /><br />Peter
Guys, can you show me some link to read what you said?
Thanks in advance.

Luis,<br /><br />Are you asking me about Windows 2003 SP1 area? If yes, I remember that it is mentioned in the webcast of SQL Server and XP SP2. If you need the link, I can look for it.[<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif’ alt=’:D‘ />]<br /><br /><br />Peter
Make sure you have the Distributed Transaction Coordinator run as NETWORK SERVICE. If you don’t the DTS service will not work properly. Other than that, we haven’t had any issues with "features". MeanOldDBA

http://www.sql-server-performance.com/operating_system_tuning_w2003.asp for performance tuning area. But having said that we do have some pre-requisites for the same. You will have to first install SQL2000. A warning message may come up saying that SQL Server2000 SP2 or lower is not supported on Windows 2003.But thats just a reminder for you to apply SP3a or later. When you first install SQL it will disable all network libraries except shared memory, preventing remote connections. Applying SP3a will re-enable them. Make sure its not Win2k3 Web Edition as the only version of SQL allowed on that is MSDE2000 SP3(a). Satya SKJ
