sql 2005 SP1 question

Browsing through some web sites, I found this: To repair or modify SQL server components after the service pack is installed
Use Add or Remove programs to remove the component from the computer. Install the component from the SQL Server 2005 installation media. On the SQL Server 2005 CD, files are located in the Setup directory on the second SQL Server 2005 installation disc. On the SQL Server 2005 DVD and for network installations, files are located in the ToolsSetup directory. To install the component, double-click the .msi file name. Reinstall SQL Server 2005 SP1.
To me this sounds like you have to reinstall sp1 and any of it’s hotfixes every time you add/remove/fix a component. Is this so?
What do you mean by add/remove a component, is it a SQL or any other?

well, lets say after installing the SP1 and it’s hotfixes you decide to add SSIS….do you reinstall SP1 + hotfixes? actually, I am not even sure about SQL 2000 SP4 for that matter, does it need to be reapplied after adding a sql component?
No need not be and only you need to update on SSIS side to install. Satya SKJ
