SQL 2005 Waiting on another process

I keep receiving an error whenever I try to do anything in the my new installation of SQL 2005. Whenever I attempt anything in SQL I receive a message that SQL is waiting on another process to finish and I should contact Microsoft. I am running XP PRO, with a RAID Level 0. It is a fresh installation with no additional software – just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. The message says to tell Microsoft, but I cannot find a solution. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer. It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer. ~Albert Einstein

The events viewer was showing that SQL was "Hanging" – I have more to offer on my specific issue – I will post it below. It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer. ~Albert Einstein
What I was experiencing was anything I tried to click on in SQL after logging in would simply lock up. And then the application stopped responding. I have more information on how I eventually solved this issue in a posting below.<br /><br /><blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by ghemant</i><br /><br />Hi,<br />have you look at your windows event viewer for any errors !? are you able to log in to your sql server !? exactly at what stage it throws this error !? <br /><br /><img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ /><br />Regards<br /><br />Hemantgiri S. First of all Thank you everyone who offered suggestions and ideas. Sadly but thankfully I have figured out the problem. I was going completely down the wrong path. It turns out that the video drivers provided by DELL were not 100% compatible. Uninstalling them instantly resolved my issue. I share this because – I would think I would have learned by now. Video Drivers (from Dell) have been an issue on several of my machines in the past, and I continue to forget to check them before doing hours of trouble-shooting. Hopefully, my experience may help someone else in the future avoid similar frustration. Thanks again! Joe It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer. ~Albert Einstein
Hi Joe,<br />thanks for sharing the solution with us.<br /><br /><img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ /><br />Regards<br /><br />Hemantgiri S. It would be the case if you’re testing and playing with SQL 2005, in the general production server I don’t think this is suggested to install the third party video drivers that can hog up the servers. Satya SKJ
