SQL Agent account… quick question.

Can the SQL Agent be set up to run off the local account of the server? The question was asked about ‘securing’ the account for the agent. I figured
a local account would do. Thoughts? – SQL.Admin – US.Florida
Yes off course you can setup to any user, remember the user need to have good rights, but yes you can

If it doesn’t access domain resources then create a local account, member of users local group only and configure the agent in EM. This assigns all the permissions the agent requires locally. Note: Running the agent as local system is not securing the account.
True the domain permissions are required when the jobs are involved in managing network drives or on any other SQL server, otherwise using a local account should suffice the rights as referred above. Satya SKJ
