Sql Server 2005 Performance issue

Hi Folks I am using SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. Somehow it is getting slow with most of the activities such as saving jobs after create or modify them, SSIS package saving activity, expanding some of the folder e.g. Database, Notification services, Alerts etc.. System Detail are:
1. Windows Server 2000
2. 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 build 2195
3. OptiPlex GX520 x86-based PC
4. Dual processor x85 family 15 model 4 stepping Intel
5. 1,038,408 KB memory It is dedicated SQL Server 2005 box.. What could be wrong with it?? even I checked processes runing on the server and there are no process that could eating up the resources of server. Please help.. and Thanks in advance

yes..
1. couple of hotfixes
2. microsoft office 2003
3. Symantec Antivirus
4. Live update of Symantec But Luis even I right click on the specific database to see properties or any other folder. It’s taking more time than usual time. Thanks

Are you using Management Studio on a client PC connecting to the server? Or are you running it on the desktop of the server?

AV could be the reason.

Is SQL SERVER 2005 64 bit? If yes check the following article… You may experience slow performance when you run 32-bit SQL Server tools on 64-bit operating systems

I guess it cause because of law virtual memory, do you face sluggishness on your server? IS their any other application eating up more memory or check if your disk has enough room for pagefile. Hemantgiri S. Goswami
