sql server ports

Server A: sql server 2000 STD, listens on port 1533
Server B: sql server 2000 STD, listens on port 1433 I have a linked server on server A that points to server B. The problem is the linked server looks fine from E.M., but when i go to the "Tables" section, no tables show up there. The linked server cannot see any objects. is this a port problem?

Any issues while configuring the linked server between these 2 servers.
Ensure similar MDAC versions and service packs are used between them. Satya SKJ

Server B is a sql server 2000 std

Yes the version can be different. Check the below link for some issues you can run into though:
