Surface Area Configuration for Cluster

I am trying to run the ‘SQL Server Surface Area Configuration’ for our SQL 2005 Cluster Server (passsive/active). The Configuration does point to the Virtual IP of SQL cluster. I still have the following error message. I try to run the Configuration on active node, passive node, remotely, all the same error message. Any idea ? You cannot configure surface area of clusted services by connecting to a computer anme. connect to the virtual server to configure clustered services. (SQLSAC) thanks
PLease post thread in relevant sections only. Checkhttp://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms173748(SQL.90).aspx for more information and also check Remote connectivity is enabled. Satya SKJ

Start SQLSAC and select remote computer and enter the virtual sql server name.
At the Surface Area Configuration application you will see "Change Computer" option. Select this one and then select Remote Computer.
Then write you virtual server name. After that you will be able to see Surface Area Configuration.
I hope that this will be helpfull to you.

Hi,
no, this is a valid question. If you use the IP address of the clustered virtual server, it appears to resolve back to the active node in the cluster. Using the virtual server name is the way to go.
