Upgrading 7 to 2000 – General guidance

We are going to embark on an upgrade of two separate database that we developed originally by a partner that is no longer on either of our two programs. Given how the relationship ended, we can not expect much in the way of support from them for this upgrade. There are stored procedures, jobs, processes, and other possible pitfalls that we are not fully aware of at this time. Any general hints, tips, guidance, etc. that can make this transition go easier would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob

Thanks folks for the rapid turnaround on this. I have passed your links to my App/Dev folks so that they can benefit from them before attempting the first pass on this.

I will keep you updated on the results.

Bob[]
As a DBA I would propose you to keep in mind about COLLATION changes between ver 7 and 2K, refer thru this DB Journal articlehttp://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.phpr/1587631 which tackles the issues, as you’d referred articles to Developers. _________
