Using Mount points with 2005 Cluster

Can anyone give me a good quick lesson on how this is achieved?<br /><br />I have read<a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280297/>http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280297/</a> but have more questions, ie… <br /><br />Say you are going to put Instance1 on drive Z:, would you need a physical drive Z: on each node of the cluster and then have the mount points within that drive that point to the SAN logical disks? If so, how does the failover work in that scenario? <br /><br />Any more links that talk about the use of mount points and sql 2005 would be great too, other than something that just says… "2005 can use mount points" <img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif’ alt=’:D‘ /><br /><br />thanks,
So I think this way it should work do’nt remember correctly that I was working on before<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ /><br /><br />We define resources where we have the disks and if on One node we define resource and mount points should be automatically defined on other node as well.<br /><br /><br /<a target="_blank" href=http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189910.aspx>http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189910.aspx</a><br /><br />The only that I remember vividly is when we do setup of sql server in normal what we do is we have a very small size of Base drive with mounted drives of very big sizes. But when we run setup of sql server it will fail with no disk space even though you have gigs of free space on mounted drive. So the solution would be to have enough space on base drive that will install sql server setup.<br /><br /><br />HOpe this helps.
So is the "base" drive local storage, or does it too need to be space allocated on the SAN?
