VERY URGENT!!! 2 node Windows 2003 x64 SP2 cluster
Hi all,If somebody could help with this issue ASAP I would really really appreciate it. Here’s the problem – I have installed windows 2003 SP1 x64 enterprise edition on 2 nodes (dell 2950s) and set up MSCS (attached to SAN/EMC). In the win cluster as of now, I have — 1) cluster group – with quorum, cluster ip,cluster name and msdtc resources
2) disk group 1 – with 1 disk resource (for node 1)
3) disk group 2 – with 1 disk resource for node 2) All the failovers ("move group") operations work fine (from node 1 to node and vice versa) for all resources/groups EXCEPT for the "cluster group".. where the MSDTC resource is not failing/moving over to the other node. These are the errors I am seeing in the "event viewer" under "application" on the 2nd node: ""MS DTC Transaction Manager start failed. LogInit returned error 0x8007000e.""
"Could not start the MS DTC Transaction Manager." I have followed articles 817064 and enabled network DTC access on both nodes prior to configuring MSDTC resource (per article 301600). PLS HELP. THANKS.

Thanks Satya – I was hoping to hear from anyone who may have run into the same issue. I will go over the links/documents you have posted here though. Regards & thanks again for the quick response.
I don’t see the %SystemRoot%System32Dtclog folder at all on either of the nodes.
Is this an issue ? Should I be creating the Dtclog folder using the "msdtc -resetlog" command (Article ID : 205069) Perhaps this will fix the "move group" issue I am facing with the MSDTC resource ?
Apologies – pls bear with me … I take that back ..I do see a SystemRoot%System32MSDTC folder (perhaps DTCLOG is for win 2000 and is replaced with MSDTC in win 2003).
Removing and redefining clustered DTC does nothing, resetting DTC log also didnt help. Please advise – I’m out of ideas!
The issue if fixed — this post can be considered closed now.

how did you fix it ?
The MSDTC settings were not configured at all – once that was
done on both nodes, the rest of the multi-instance set up worked like a charm.
