Web Service on SQL Server 2005

Will Hosting Web services and Database on dedicated servers give better performance than Hosting web services using the HTTP endpoints on SQL Server 2005? The web services are going to be doing very little other than read/write to the database. The amount of data being processed can be said to be of medium load.

SQL 2005 has this capability and Microsoft provided the provision after such a requirement from previous versions and usage. I would suggest to review the database growth in next 3 years and prepare with relevant resources on hardware & software to avoid any issues in due course. Articles FYi,

Thanks guys for the reply. True that we have to consider the database growth for deciding this. It may be possible for me to get the growth pattern using previous data that we have, but has Microsoft published the criteria / pattern / scenarios where Hosting web services using the HTTP endpoints on SQL Server 2005 is more suitable vis-a-vis Hosting Web services and Database on dedicated servers ?

Refer to the Technet link I have referred above that highlights few bits and pieces of information you’re looking for, in general Web Services is a new concept in SQL 2005 and may search onhttp://www.microsoft.com/sql site for any case studies in this case, I will update the thread if I find anything similar.
