Confirm the SQL Server version and service pack level.
Also check whether the SQL server services are alive and any dump is created under LOG directory. Satya SKJ

You might also want to consider calling MS SQL Server PSS. —

After the AV i see there is a stackdump being generated error log after that time. which is english <img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ /> but hard to understand anything from this.. <br /><br />Any idea guys what sqlserver want to convey with this message and what action a dba need to sort out this if this is an alert. I saw the sqlserver services are running fine without issues.
You haven’t comeup with the answers for the questions asked above.
Anyway it seems some sort of mismatch with the SQL process and can you confirm when and where this alert is generated. REfer to this KBAhttp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=899431 for similar information on AV errors. Satya SKJ

Again i see repeat of similar error ie Access Violation , confirmed sql server SP 3 2000 enterprise edition, sql server services are alive and stack dump is created. Happen to go through site mentioned by Ghemant – It makes us to understand clearly what is AV but dont see any resolution to this AV. Satya – The site you’ve mentioned is ok but i’m more intersted in exact step to resolve this which is lacking in this site any other pointers guys to resolve this…

There is no direct resolution to resolve this issue, I believe you are here to findout the root cause of the issue and not the meaning of the error. As suggested by Frank, log a support call with MS PSS to get exact information on root cause of the issue. Moreover most these AV errors are fixed when latest hotfix or service pack is fixed. SO you must check and monitor the SQL server at your end and see for all events at that time when this error generated. Satya SKJ

Any idea about the possible concequences of AV since most of the time i saw just a stack dump is generated with mssg sql server is terminiating the process…… etc apart from this what else it might cause which i should bother about, any pointer with concequesnces welcome …
Download PSSDIAG from MS PSS http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;830232] and run to capture the information, it is better to log a call to MS Support. Satya SKJ

Even though the applications are not effected should i log a call to MS Support ?

Just curious to know – to log a call with MS Support is there any free websit available if so whts the website name?
If the application and performance is not affected then you must monitor the events closely, as you may not know when will this bring down the application and database. Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) is a great ally when you need help troubleshooting Exchange Server problems. You’ll find options for purchasing support on the Microsoft Support site athttp://support.microsoft.com link. If you have a PSS support contract, your Exchange support personnel need to be familiar with the process of logging calls and sending dump information to PSS. Satya SKJ
