when was sql 2000 released?

does anyone remember when SQL 2000 was first released (year and month)? thanks!

I remember that I read once, MS allows it’s products a lifetime of 5 years; after that ther will be no more support. <br /><br />No I am wondering how long I may be running SQL Server 2000 before I should have sleepless nights. <img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif’ alt=’:D‘ /> Does anyone know by chance?<br />
You don’t worry on that aspect, when I was speaking to one of the MS account manager at our end said.. SQL 2K is supported until 2010 (I don’t have the support details page right in had, can post later). Satya SKJ

Release dates on Service Packs
Service Pack 1 – June 12, 2001
Service Pack 2 – November 30, 2001
Service Pack 3 – January 17, 2003
Service Pack 3a -May 19, 2003
Service Pack 4 – May 6, 2005 and Tahnxk for information satya, so we have 5 years to learn 2005 , not bad

One of the MS support pages refers
Mainstream support will end 2 years after the next version of this product is launched. Extended support will end 5 years after Mainstream support ends.
