Windows 2003 sp_startmail problems

SQL 2000 Enterprise edition, running on Windows 2003 Server Outlook has been installed and a MAPI profile created for domain user ‘sqlmail’.
Machine is logged into windows as this user and sql server and sql agent run as this user also. Attempting to select the MAPI profile from server properties.. no entries appear in the drop down. Trying to force the MAPI profile name results in a failed xp_startmail When I go onto the server, I can send mail from "sqlmail"s outlook to my own account, and vice versa
Any advice please? Should I uninstall outlook and reinstall to recreate the MAPI profile ?

Which version of Outlook? Only Outlook 2000 works as far as I know (Outlok 97 or Outlook 2003 doesn’t work): FIX: SQL Mail 2000 Needs Microsoft Outlook 2000 Client

Hi Argyle, Im using Outlook 2000. Our network admin guy nearly installed Outlook 2003 but luckily we were out of licenses so he chose 2000 <img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ /><br /><br />But this raises another question. The actual Outlook application is irrelevant in my opinion to sql-mail. It needs outlook only for the MAPI libraries and as a way to create a default MAPI profile. So… If outlook 2003 is known not to work, it is presumably down to the MAPI libs bundled with it (im totally guessing though!)<br /><br />If this is the case, maybe those same libs are deployed with Windows 2003, which is why I cant get it working. <br /><br />Id like to hear from anyone who has xp_startmail working successfully on Windows 2003<br /><br />Cheers
