Full Backups and Shipping compatibility

Hi!
Can I do full backups of a database that has the primary role in a logshipping? or maybe it is incompatible…
I want to have backups of this database apart of having a copy in standby database. Greetings.

Yes you can continue full backup for the databases that are involved in log shipping, but ensure both the operations doesn’t overlap. Satya SKJ

Why do you have to ensure that the two operations don’t overlap? What would be the result if they did? I’m pretty sure I’ve had that situation and not had a report from the monitor that anything was out of sync.

If backup database is performing and when you execute backup log then there will be a locking situation where it will fail backup log statement. In general it is suggested to continue full backup and pause the log shipping for a while until it finishes the full backup. Satya SKJ
