Intial Snapshot
Hi, If I Generate snapshot and then take backup of publisherdatabse and restore to subscriber, Is that going to work?
What is best way to handle this? Thanks

Are you trying to initially setup replication? You should do a backup and restore to subscriber before setting up replication. ———-

Thanks Kelley, But I’ve to take Intial snap shot to insert new unique identifier column. Are you suggesting adding this column first and then take backup on publisher
and restore on subscriber and then generate snapshot and set up subscrpting to this publiscation? Thanks Nilay
No, perform the backup of Publisher and restore to subscriber first, then set up replication. The setup process creates the unique identifiers for you on both the publisher and subscriber. Make sense? Try MSDN or BOL for more info on setting up replication. ———-
