New install with SQL Server 2000 SP4 on cluster

Hello all, We are setting up a new active/passive cluster on Windows Server 2003
with SQL Server 2000 SP4 (including Analysis Services).
What should the installation order be? 1) Install SQL Server 2000 and SP4 (on primary node)
2) Install AS and SP4 (on both nodes)
-or-
1) Install database component and AS
2) Install SP4 for both If I install Reporting Services, will I need to re-install SP4
for database components? Thanks, Rick

First, keep in mind that Analysis Server and Reporting Services are not cluster-aware in SQL Server 2000, but Analysis Services is in 2005. You will need to use load balancing for Reporting Services if you want fault tolerance. I suggest that you install everything you want as a base install first, then add the SPs for SQL Server 2000, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services. I have not tried exactly what you are doing, so I don’t know how it will all work together on a cluster. —————————–
