New Storage for Cluster

Hello Guys, I have an Active/Pasive cluster running MS SQL Server 2000 with Windows 2000 Advanced Server and the cluster service. The hardware is 2 Dell PowerEdge 2650 and 1 Dell PowerVault with 1 partition for the Quorum and 1 partition to hold the database.
The external SCSI boards on the nodes have two SCSI interfaces, so I have one spare SCSI interface on each server. I only have one database, and I need storage redundancy. The question is, can I use those two interfaces to connect a new Storage with the same disc configuration? If so, how can I configure SQL to use one storage or the other? Can be that configuration redundant? I will apretiate your help. Pablo Bertuzzi
tell us a little more on what you mean by "need storage redundancy" – do you mean that you need to stay up if any one (or more) drives in your array fails? How is it configured right now (raid level, etc)? Simas
No personal experience with that particular model or platform, but the DL380G3 servers it’s based on is rock solid, and it’s previous nas version based on windows 2000 storage version was very nice indeed. May also check the vendor’s website for further information. Satya SKJ

In the Storage I have 2 disks with raid 1 for the quorum and 5 disks with raid 5 to hold the database.
Each node have 3 disks with raid 5. Now I would like to install a second Storage for aditional redundancy in case the Storage 1 fails. See the diagram:
.___. .____________. .____.
| N |——-| Storage #1 |——| N |
| o | .____________. | o |
| d | | d |
| e | .____________. | e |
| |——-| Storage #2 |——| |
| # | .____________. | # |
| 1 | | 2 |
.___. .____.
Is this possible? How can I configure this so that the SQL only sees one drive? I was told that a product called Volume Manager by Veritas could do this.
kind regards, Pablo.
In my experience, YOu can use the spare one port of the PERC adapter to attach another one storage. Otherwize, the cluster which is configurated now will appear to experience problem. Actually you do have the raid 5 with DB, and local OS, and the powervalt should have redundancy power supply.

Sorry, not ‘YOu can use the spare one port’ it’s ‘You can not use the spare one port’
