I have a Master/Slave transaction replication setup where the slave is read only. The master server is very old and I need to take it offline, Would it be ok just to stop the replication and use the slave#%92s copy of the DB as the master? (would any unforseen problems arise?) Is there a way to enforce a read-only subscription database but still allows replication to write to it?
You need to reconfigure the replication process to take affect the new settings on slave server act as main server. Refer to books online for more information on replication topics. Satya SKJ
