The agent is suspect

I have SQL server 7.0 transaction replication . Following error i was getting on distribution agent log:- The agent is suspect. No response within last 60 minutes. I tried to start it was not restarting.
Can any one tell me what is the problem which cause this issue and why it was not starting. Rajeev Kumar Srivastava

This is an informational message and may be agent is still working properly. But still you need to investigate why it is throwing errors or may be busy to update the status.
