"trend micro" antivirus software

Does any of you guys have used Trend Micro antivirus software in a cluster?
No, but running any antivirus software directly on a cluster is risky. Generally speaking, Microsoft does not recommend it if you want to ensure the highest level of availability. As an alternative, you can install antivirus software on a non-cluster, and then use it to schedule daily file scans on the cluster. This is very safe, but does of course incur a performance hit during the file scan. —————————–

I don’t get the difference. File locking will still occure and if the cluster will failover you will still have problems.

As a general recommendation refrain using AV on cluster, especially.
Even if you are not monitoring the shared disk, the filter drivers are still loaded and may affect the operation of the cluster. Satya SKJ

An outside virus scan will only scan closed files, which means the SQL Server data files will not be scanned, but as far as I know, there has never been a virus that has directly affected an open SQL Server data file. The scan is to catch viruses in more common files. —————————–
