Cannot Start SQL Server To Restore Databases

    We lost a couple of drives, one contained mdf/ldf for a database, and the other contained several log files. I have the new drives in place, and am attempting to restore from SQL backups, but I cannot get SQL Server starter. I can get it started in single user mode, but that does not help me in restoring the databases. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
