I would like to start running a DBA of the month interview article on the website. What I would do is to send a DBA a set of written interview questions that they would answer. I would then use their written responses to write the article. I would also like to include a photo of the DBA. If you would like to be considered as DBA of the month, please contact me directly at webmaster@sql-server-performance.com Brad ----------------------------- Brad M. Most of the DBAs I know live in a dungeon and are allergic to camera flash. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />] You sure you need that?<br /><br />MeanOldDBA<br />derrickleggett@hotmail.com<br /><br />When life gives you a lemon, fire the DBA.
Really it is a good feature to know more about their experience. I agree with Derrick and also the employer might have restrictions listed with their policies in commenting about their servers. I think it is a good idea. from this people can share their precious experience with others and other can take a leaf out of the DBA. So I think it is good idea.
<br />This is fantastic..BUT no photo's please <br /><br /><img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' /><br /><br /><br /><br />Deepak Kumar<br /><br />--An eye for an eye and everyone shall be blind

Dinesh: There are chances some of our company clients who have critical data with us.. would not like that other competitor come to know about their database administrator by face or identity. Though, chances are less for objection. still I posted to be on safer side, else definatly I would like myself to see on forum. [one day] Thanks --Deepak Kumar quote:Originally posted by dineshasanka quote:Originally posted by deepakontheweb This is fantastic..BUT no photo's please Why is that Deepak! This is a very good idea. <br />Bradmcgehee, because of your great idea's I am enjoying using this forum day by day. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]
Photos aren't required, just nice to have. So far only one person has directly contacted me about participating. So if you want to participate, please contact me directly at webmaster@sql-server-performance.com. Then I will respond back with written interview quesstions, and then I will pick out the best to be published. The interview questions will be general and you won't have to talk about your company, unless you want to. If I get a large number of these, I may run more than one a month. I think this is a great idea. For those concerned with safety, it would be easy to decline an interview. As for pictures, the only ones I have digital are from assorted marathons and other races - cant say they are very flattering, but they certainly show the real me! Chris
I now have the first two DBA profiles on the website, at:http://www.sql-server-performance.com/dba_profiles.asp If you want your profile published, please let me know. Thanks! ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
I have included the instructions and interview questions here, for your referral. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is a set of written questions that you can respond to at your leisure, if you are interested in participating in SQL-Server-Performance.Com's DBA(s) of the Month interview. The more comprehensive your answers, the more likely that I will publish the interview. It is my goal to publish everyone's interview, but if you don't provide much in the way of a response, then there won't be much to publish. Answer only those questions that you want, and skip the rest if you like. Write your answers directly below the questions, using as much space as you want to reply. Give your answers as if you were talking to a friend who had asked you the question. Try not to answer just yes or no to some of the questions. Try to offer some details, or an explanation to each of the questions. I will most likely edit your responses to a small degree. If you like, you can send me a photograph to go along with the interview. This is optional. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Brad Here goes. Well, yes, but since this photo is only 80x60 (or so, I was able to cut this off the "real" picture. I am there on a children's indoor playground sitting in a small swimming pool full of ball's. The kids are somewhere left and right of me.
