in sql 2000 i could do this:

    SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE Fld1 > 8 AND Fld2 = 'test'

    (where Fld1 is a varchar)

    and it returns no error

wen i ran the same query on SQL2005 five it gives me an error, because there are some values in Fld2 which are not numbers.

Is this somewhat a new rule in sql2005. if yes, could someone give me a link where it explains such.

    thanks!
