I want to try out different Free SQL Server tools. So far, I find the following: Idera - SQLcheck 2.0 Quest - Toad for SQL Server Quest - Quest Central for SQL Server (Freeware Edition) How are these free tools? What are the main benefits using them instead of the tools in SQL Server 2000? What other free tools are available? Thank you, Peter

Until unless you have a major advantage by using them, I don't deploy them on the production environment. We have a paid version of quest central and quite like it. So far we've had no problems (we use mostly the spotlight monitoring dashboard tool). That said, treat any free tools with caution. Use only in dev environment and consider them evaluation copies only.

Hi, I am evaluating Quest Spotlight on my development server. However, I having problem on how to use it. The help don't seem to help much. I am having problem not able to view any block/lock SP even thought I have select to zoom in, the windows just display no data for both the blocking/lock session. Any user on this software, pls kindly advise me how to go about using it or any articles to start me with. Any help,advise or comments is very much appreciated. Thank you
