I have a DB that runs ghost cleanup every 4 seconds. The db was recently created and is not currently being used. Any ideas?

You probably has the Auto-Shrink option enabled on the DB. The Ghost Cleanup thread also takes care of the auto shrink task.

Here is my issue with your explanation. I have 105 other DB's with the same configuration and do not have the same issue.

Run PERFMON (SYSMON) and server side trace in order to see what is happening on this particular database.

That is how I discovered the issue. Every 4 seconds there is a SQL Transaction for that database with an object name of GhostCleanuptask. This is the only activity this Db shows.

Is there any effect on CPU?
Call PSS or post Microsoft forums to get the answer from MS guys...
