I got into Orlando on Saturday, just before the hurricane hit. This was my first hurricane, and fortunately, we are OK. Our hotel was built to withstand hurricanes, so there were no problems, other than being locked in the hotel for about 24 hours due to a curfew. Today, the bad weather is gone and the sun is even out between the clouds. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Forgive my ignorance, but isn't Florida calleed th sunshine state? Well, rainy Germany suddenly becomes quite charming... ----------------------- --Frank http://www.insidesql.de -----------------------
Florida has had a recordbreaking 4 hurricanes in the past 6 weeks. It is always nice to experience a first in recorded history. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
Hmm, maybe replace 'nice' with 'interesting' <img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' /> Not sure its something Id want to experience!

Well, finally we have a PASS Summit 2005 in Europe. <br />Somewhen in May in Munich, Germany [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]<br />Haven't got the link right now, but it's on the PASS homepage. <br />Not sure if my company will sponsor this for me, but if so, that might be a chance to meet some guys from here.<br /><br /><br />-----------------------<br />--Frank<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a><br />-----------------------<br />

I am back from PASS. I got to see a few of our forum members, including Gaurav Bindlish, Joe Chang, and Derrick Leggett. I just wish I had more time to talk with them. My schedule was very busy, will little room to socialize. My two seminars went great, and I hope to turn them into articles for this website soon. I am going to try, but can't promise as this time, to present a the European PASS in Munich next May 2005. ----------------------------- Brad M. McGehee, MVP Webmaster SQL-Server-Performance.Com
i saw the link - is it one day only? seemed like msft, ibm and hp only were presenting anybody been to PASS Euro summits that can offer any info? Brian Lockwood ApexSQL Software http://www.apexsql.com Value Added SQL Server Tools
To me it seems to be a 3 days event. [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif' alt='' />]<br />Personally I don't have any experience with these event, however when I get my boss to sponsor it for me, I'm looking forward to see some of the faces behind the names.<br /><br /><br />-----------------------<br />--Frank<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.insidesql.de>http://www.insidesql.de</a><br />-----------------------<br />
I had met Brad on a previous occassion and posted about the same. But the unknown discovery of one of the most brilliant guys in this forum - Hoe Chang. This guy is a killer and for thouse who are in US, I would recommend visiting SQL Connections where he is going to present his presentations. He shared the presentations with me and the depth of data in them was amazing. I got a chance to meet Ken Henderson, Bob Ward an Robert Dorr. These are escalation engineers at Microsoft PSS and last point of contact for any SQL Server issue. They presented on some really nice topics. For instance Ken presented on SQL Server Memory Internals and Bob and Robert presented on Blocking. I didn't get a chance to attend Brad's presentation because of some clashes. Overall, I think we should go to these conferneces as there is so much to learn. Gaurav Moderator Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging environment- L.
