When I was 26 years old (1975) I see for first time a computer. It was a Sperry Univac 90/30. I was placed in a 6x6 room, with false floor, and a freezer inside. RAM: 32 Kbytes. Disk: 1 10Mbytes. 2 huge Tapes. Card Reader. Printer. Operating System: OS/3. To initialize computer, first OS must load from cards. About 12 card box with 1000 cards each. Card has 90 columns, first 80 for code (assembler) last 10 to numerate each card, because if one box fall downs , only way to get in order again. Days and nights to put it together, HW, SO, Compilers (COBOL, FORTRAN). I miss these days. Yes, in these time the only way to lear Computers in University was call: Scientific Computation, 5 years and I don't see a computer in all that time. Believe it or not. I get the autosignature few weeks ago when I give a course of Complex and Paradox to Psicoanalist People. They were interest to know about Cantor, Russel and Goedel. More documentation are in English and when I read Russell I'm shock because in really true (Goedel source). That is great Frank!!! I'm not a mathematician by profession(although as a dba I do get to some data analysis), but I do have a bach of math (U of Waterloo) and loved the jokes. chris
