Hi experts, We've got 2-dual core AMD processor server running SQL server 2005 Standard SP3. OS is Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2. Only one CPU core is constantly pegged at 100% where as the other 3 are averaging 50-60%. SQL server is the only application installed so it does seem to utilize all cpu cores, however only one is maxed out. Affinity Mask is set to 0 Any idea what might be chewing up that one core?
Is normal. I see that in severals servers. Now, what kind of AMD do you have?. Not all works fine with 2003.
With some device drivers, all interrupts are handled by a single CPU core. That can cause the behavior you describe. I believe this issue was addressed/improved in Windows 2008.
