    Hi,
    Scenario is:
I am uploading a csv file, reading it line by line and storing it table say "uploadedData".Then calling a stored proc that validates this table uploadedData against other tables in database, inserts/updates in 3 tables
when a person is uploading 50,000 records the system slows down and takes ages to complete the process.
I have not used cursors in the stored proc.
Pls can any one suggest me some technique that could improve the performance

Why you're reading the .CSV file line by line, you can use DTS to import the data straightaway to the table without any issue.

I agree with Satya on this. BTW how are you uploading the file? Doesn't sound like a SQL Server utility.

Also if you are executing sp for each line saperately, I think there must be some way t process batch of records simultaneously.
