Congratulations to all. Hmmm...it's just me or what, I am seeing the drastic decrease in forum participation by most of the members after switching to the new site.[]
The point is that nearly all of the activity from the top posters is in response to questions, a.k.a. new threads - and it would seem like there has been a decrease in new threads. Nonetheless - congrats to all!
<P mce_keep="true">I agree with you on activity, on the lighter side may be problems with SQL has decreased or they are busy with some other work [][] <P mce_keep="true">[quote user="DilliGrg"] <P>Congratulations to all. I've taken a pretty hard look at the cause of this. I had expect posts to be done as Sept is a 30 day month and had 5 weekends instead of the usual 4, and also had a public holiday. However it was still a bit below what I had expected. The biggest cause of this seems to be Google's indexing of the forum pages. Forum posts are actually a pretty stable function of site traffic. Overall traffic was very choppy were the site moved over, for example - for the keyterm 'SQL Server' the site's ranking fell from 8 to 34 for a few weeks. Traffic is about back to normal and the site's Google rankings have returned. One key difference with the new site is the ranking of forum pages in Google. Google is not giving good rankings to the forum pages (and even still has some of the old pages in the index). This means there are less new users finding the forums and asking questions for the seasoned pros to answer. I am considering making a more prominent 'Sign Up to the Forums' button on all article pages to drive a bit more traffic to the forums. In the meantime fingers crossed Google plays nice!
Jude I believe thats fair play on our part, it is upto to the users who want to seek the help. But no doubt SSP rocks when in comes to response within the community. TIme will tell the tale []. Frank, Where you have been, hope busy at work place... [].
