Hm, in that case why don't you go to the http://www.codeplex.com/ site, play around with the sample databases there and start writing code?
In that case you can install MS SQL Server 2005/2008 Express edition on your system and start exploring.....
As you are familiar with other db's perhaps you could take a task you have had to do in those, and try and create it in MSSQL. Its a real life example then, and one you can relate to.
