Cannot use a BREAK statement outside the scope of a WHILE statement.
This error message appears when you try to use a BREAK statement outside the scope of a WHILE loop.
The SQL statement cannot be parsed and further execution is stopped.
Error of the Severity level 15 are generated by the user and can be fixed by the SQL Server user. A BREAK statement can only be used within the scope of a WHILE loop.
All versions of SQL Server.
DECLARE @t VARCHAR(10)
IF OBJECT_ID(‘tempdb..t’) > 0
DROP TABLE t
CREATE TABLE t
c1 INT PRIMARY KEY
In the above example we try to use the BREAK statement in an IF clause. This raises the error.
