Improve Database System Performance With Diskeeper

File Structure

File structure shows the fragmentation level and relative location of files and folders on the hard disk.

The screenshot below was taken before running defragmentation and clearly shows that there were a lot of fragmented files and folders. (Here again, I would have liked to see the percentages.)

After defragmentation, file and folder fragmentation has clearly gone down. Note, however, that the paging file is still fragmented.

Statistics

You can compare the statistics before and after defragmentation of a hard disk, which in this case clearly shows that there was a definite improvement after running Diskeeper.

Let’s summarize the key figures:

Before Diskeeper Ran

After Diskeeper Ran

Fragmented directories

812

10

Excess directory fragments

3,838

16

Total fragmented files

20,183

97

Total excess fragments

55,546

664

Paging file fragmentations

2

2

Volume fragmentation

23 %

9 %

Data fragmentation

25 %

10 %

Except for the paging file fragmentation, all these factors improved after the execution of Diskeeper.

Scheduling

Scheduling is very tricky with the Windows defragmentation tool. In Diskeeper, however, this can be achieved very easily. All you need do is just move the mouse on the schedule. You can schedule this operation weekly or for a specific date.
