Msg 1012, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The correlation name ‘%.*ls’ has the same exposed name as table ‘%.*ls’.
This error message appears when you try to use a name for a derived table that is already used by another table withing the same scope in a query.
The T-SQL statement can be parsed, but causes the error at runtime.
Error of the Severity Level 16 are generated by the user and can be fixed by the SQL Server user. The statement cannot be executed this way. Each table (derived or not) in the same scope of a query must have a unique name.
All versions of SQL Server.
(SELECT CustomerID, COUNT(*)
GROUP BY CustomerID) AS Orders(CustomerID, nbr)
ON Orders.CustomerID = Orders.CustomerID
In the above example we try to JOIN a derived table named Orders with the base table of the same name. This raises the error.
